Every preacher knows about rhythm, even though you could never guess that about me if you saw me on the dance floor. There is the rhthym of preaching each Sunday, with everything building up to the Sunday morning sermon and then starting all over again on Monday morning. There is the rhythm of of reading the lectionary texts each week and trying to get in step with the illuminating Spirit of God. There is the rhythm found in doing the dance between the hospital rooms and serious listening of pastoral care combined with the need to be alone and time to chisel out a sermon outline. And then there is the rhythm that we seek in the pulpit as we allow God to take the lead in the dance of worship and word. This blog is about exploring these rhythms, with the hopes that we all can learn some old and new steps in the dance of God in our world today.
